My brother-in-law, who is a gerbil by marriage is a chess expert (I will use the correct terminology---I wondered about that). I don't know what all of it means...but....winning = awesome.
On another gerbil chess related story, did you know that there is a chess program called gerbil....
Clearly everything is coming together....this explains BIL's love of chess and gerbils..it is all inter-related...

Thanks for the plug! In case any of my fellow chess dorks are reading this, I am technically an "expert" which is a class below "master".
Speaking of chess and gerbil-like creatures, Rozerem offers online games against its mascot, the chess-playing beaver. In my opinion, the beaver is only slightly better at chess (even on the "advanced" level) than an actual gerbil.
